That is 125 new ideas to share with your teen in a fun way now through Christmas.

These career cards have been a huge hit with students on many campuses this month. Here are some ways teachers and counselors are using them.

  • Laminating them and putting them up all over campus.

  • Showing them each am and taking five minutes for students to scan one and read about and share a fact with the class.

  • Hidding them around the classroom but with job title blacked out and before break students have to find three and go to qr code, label, and post in class on the board.

  • Posting them in school newsletter

  • Emailing or texting students them daily.

  • Hanging at career fairs

  • Having students pick one and do a presentation on it.

  • Recreating the scenes in real life with the picture next to it.

Asking students to make their own card after seeing examples.

What will you do with them?

  • I am doing my best to incorporate all CTE pathways multiple times.

  • Some of the jobs I have from cte pathways include mason, construction manager, artisanal bread baker, wig designer, choral director, optician, maxillofacial surgeon, plant breeder, etc

  • I try to mix in apprenticeships, certificates, AA, Bachelors, graduate school and phd level careers.

  • QR codes typically go to a sample program or a professional association to give them a sample of the next steps to get this career.

  • I try to choose examples from a mix of apprenticeships, company certifications, community colleges, state and private schools or an organization that lists all the approved programs.

  • I try to vary examples from across the US region wise. They are just an example to show them how to take next steps and I am not affiliated with the websites I send them to.
